Call for Papers for The Second Wroclaw Conference on contemporary Germany
Understanding Germany?
Under this title, we would like to encourage a wide range of researchers to take part – they need not necessarily deal with Germany itself. All kind of comparisons (involving Germany) are allowed, no matter, if politics, economy or cultural issues are involved. Thanks to our call for panels, we already managed to structure the conference in advance. On October 7th, there will a panel on transatlantic relations, comprising high level experts from Poland, Germany and the US. The following day, a special panel on memory politics will compare recent events in Spain and Latin America to German and Polish “Vergangenheitspolitik” and “Vergangenheitsbewältigung”.
We are also proud to announce, that the “Second Wroclaw Conference on Contemporary Germany” intentionally overlaps partly with a conference on political extremism of the University of Lower Silesia (www.dsw.edu.pl). On October 7th, a joint panel of experts of extremist and populist parties, organized by DSW and FEPS will take place. We strongly recommend to attend both conferences. More information on the DSW conference on extremism can be found on konferencja-ekstremizm.dsw.edu.pl
Please note, that DSW may apply different admission criteria and fees for attending its conference and that participation in one conference does not entitle to access to the other one.
If you want to attend “The Second Wroclaw Conference on Contemporary Germany”, you can ascribe to an already existing panel, propose your own panel (including chair, discussants and participants) or send as short description of your presentation – in the latter case, we will try to assemble similar presentations for a joint panel or organize an “open panel” (with different topics). The conference fee will be 70 zl and must reach us 2 weeks before the start of the conference. Please remember, that FEPS does not provide or refund neither transport nor accommodation, however, we can help you to find a suitable accommodation. Please remember, that only public panels on October 7th will be translated. Specific panels on October, 8th will be conducted in the language their participants deem suitable (English, Polish, German).
All correspondence concerning the conference should be directed to conference@feps.pl
