Muslims and other Germans. Berlin Republic reinvents itself.

We have a pleasure to present you a new book of Piotr Buras : "Muslims and other Germans. Berlin Republic reinvents itself". This is a book not only for experts on Germany, but for all interested in what is going on at the moment by our neighbour.

Twenty years have passed since Germany united again. Now this country faces really deep changes. It is no longer the past that serves as a reference mark of German struggle with democracy, nation, welfare state and its role in our world. The challenges are not typically German any more. They have become "normal", characteristic for many other European states.

It is why the German change we witness ist not as deep as that of 1949- when two German states appeared on the map. It is also not as impetouos as the change started with the student revolt of 1968. Neither as pompous as the unification of 1989/1990. But the processes described in this book move Germany forwards, on their strained way from "Bonn Republic" to "Berlin Republic".

Their results will decide on the future of German state and its further successes. Their outcome will also show what kind of a neighbour Germany would be in the next twenty years or even beyond.
