Support of non-formal education in Belarus

A training for non-formal education organized within the Polish Aid.

In 2011 FEPS organizes a project "Support for non-formal education in Belarus." It is implemented under the program "Polish Aid" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland "Support for the Belarusian society in 2011".

The target group are youth workers, educators and teachers who are interested in non-formal education and who want to develop their skills in this area. Non-formal education, which is a complement to traditional education, is an important tool in shaping the civil society.

Non-formal education for many years has been being developed in Belarus, but still encounters difficulties. These include lack of adequate funding, international contacts difficult, and the lack of institutional framework to support such initiatives. Together with the Belarusian organization "Education without borders" which pioneered this type of activity in Belarus, we organized a project that aims to overcome these barriers.

The project consists of two seminars on non-formal education. The first one took place in the the training center of "Education Without Borders" in Dunaevo, Belarus. The second seminar will be held in September in Wroclaw. Then the trainees will prepare local projects using learned methods. Thus the effects of the project will not be limited to the participants,
but will affect the others. Project end the evaluation meeting in Minsk, which will be held in December.

The project is co-organized with Unesco Initiative Center from Wrocław.

The Project is co-financed by the Polish development cooperation programme 2011 of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
