The change in the importance of women in the European Parliament after the enlargement of 2004.
The article deals with the change in the importance of women in the European Parliament after the enlargement of 2004. The author analyzes statistical data about the position women held before and after enlargement in different crucial organs of the EP. She tests hypotheses of Polish feminist scholars, who claim, that women and men in politics concentrate on different issues (like infrastructure and finance for men, and family and social for women). Her finding partly corroborate these expectations, but at the same time demonstrate, that enlargement did not contribute to a decline in power for women in the EP.
